Key to my heart was built in the summer of 2019, as an interactive art installation for Bass Coast Festival. Though aspects of the installation were built prior, in the winter, as part of the stage design for Intention Gathering. It received a grant from Bass Coast.

The piece is a large scale representation of antique keys. In addition to the keys, there is an infinity mirror that is viewable through a giant key hole. Participants can interact with the lighting in the infinity mirror via a pulse sensor mounted on a podium.

It was built by Beatrix the White and Karen Oh.

Beatrix the White
Beatrix's appreciation for dance, and the magic that happens on a dance floor is what catalyzed his becoming a DJ. His life long appreciation for music and audio in all its’ forms, has helped him develop a style that allows him to draw on all the influences around him. He fluidly mixes together Dubstep, Trap, Moombahton, Electro-swing, Glitch-hop, and whatever else tickles his fancy. He treat his sets like a story, using different genres and styles to guide dancers through a spectrum of moods and feelings. Riding up and down different tempos and beats to bring them to places that are dark and sexy, to thoughtful and introspective. Beatrix is a co-founder of Shadow Puppet Productions, and has been an active member of the underground Electronic music scene and the surrounding festival culture for many years.
Uncle Willy
Uncle Willy really enjoys playing music, like a lot. He injects as much fun as he can into his sets and explores a variety of styles, to create an eclectic experience. Uncle Wily says ,"I trust my body when it comes to choosing the tunes, if my heads a bobbin' and my foots a tappin', it goes into the set. I hope you enjoy the diddies, 'cause I love each and everyone on of them."
Thrillhaus
Listen. There is a secret within certain songs — a spirit of synesthesia, a transmission of intent. The dance floor is a doorway. Step inside. Forget your name. Breathe. Explore the aural matrix. Dance till the end. Formally, Thrillhaus started DJing in 1999, and has traveled the world with this music, from club residencies in Ottawa and Guangzhou, to the ritual nights in the foggy forests of BC, Quebec, and the Oregon coast. Thrillhaus has shared stages with Space Tribe, Juno Reactor, Infected Mushroom, Blue Lunar Monkey, Ceu, and Jesse Cook. He performed for years as a street musician in the Afro-Cuban/Samba band Sambata and is a founding member of Back Beyond Productions.
Instant Love
Instant Love holds a special legacy in the Vancouver electronic underground. Long before launching his current company, Back Beyond Productions, he was the founder and chief audio technician for Method Recording Studios, where he helped shape and solder the sound of innumerable acts over the past 20 years. During that period he explored the electric frontiers of the avant-garde/noise/experimental scene with July Fourth Toilet, and in his alter-ego L.S.D.J. His current incarnation—Instant Love—sprang from intentional immersion in a phase-shifted fishbowl: With a surface layer of deep, future-house beats, global percussion is submerged in cosmic disco, creating bubbling textures and fluid grooves. Each beat is treated, every hook is honed… a lifetime of musical love unwinds in an instant. Don’t miss it.
ian
